On Monday, September 10th, 160 golfers – sharing morning and afternoon starts – teed off at the 19th Annual Foundation Classic, benefiting the Diabetes Center of New Jersey – an affiliate of Solaris Health System. A pioneer in diabetes self-management education, the Diabetes Center is attacking the problem of pediatric obesity head-on with SHARK, a proactive outreach program targeting middle school students at risk of Type 2 diabetes.
Golfers enjoyed 18 holes on the beautiful and challenging course at Plainfield Country Club and, for the eighth year, Professional Golf Instructor, Robert Baker, held group and individual instruction for sponsors and guests. The founder of “Logical Golf,” who has taught five world number one golf champions, spent time analyzing the swings of golfers who were able to take advantage of his lessons on the driving range.
During cocktail hour, guests were treated to some “up close” magic and comedy by “The Magic of Marco”. Cocktails were followed by dinner, an Awards Ceremony and Live Auction – where a twosome to play in the Lexus Champions for Charity National Championship in Pebble Beach, CA was auctioned off for $8,500!
